Activities NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) in cities, neighbourhoods and villages around the world

NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) are non-profit, public interest associations that are not part of the state or international institutions.

The main criteria defining an NGO are

• the non-profit nature of its activities
• financial independence
• political independence;
• the notion of public interest.

NGOs can have a national or international scope of action.

In relation to international organisations, we also speak of International Solidarity Association (ISA) or international non-governmental organisations.
